My career

Hello, for today I'm going to talk about my career. How some people know, I study social anthropology because i want to be ethnomusicologist. For this specialization I could choose between two careers, musicology and anthropology. I like musicology but I think that with anthropology I can contribute much and learn more about others interesting topics. Like archeology and physical anthropology. And the anthropology give me more instruments for my futures scientifics studies.


For definition, anthropology is a social science and should help, for example, in the socials studies and in the socials conflictes. In the first example, the anthropology have a work duties most defined that the second example. The anthropology even today is very unknown for the general people. and this is because out of academic work duties, the anthropology don't have a work duties defined, and we can find anthropologist in differents works, like public employee, teachers, consultant's office, travel agency, etc.

For my academic instruction, the most important is dominate the qualitative method, specifically the ethnographic method, because is the most characteristic activity of anthropologist. And the method ethnographic implicate the knowledge of differents techniques like interview, focus group, participated observation, etc.

I don't have a favorite subject, but I like when I read things about folklore or popular culture. I like very much that sometimes the class produce insteresting discussion about different topics. And I think that the discussion is a very important element in the academic instruction.

The 3rs, reduce, reuse, recycle.

Hello, for today I'm going to answer three questions: 

• how much did you know about the 3rs?

I don't know very much, I heard about this topic in the school, but never depthed in the topic.

• how much do you do?

Really, I don't do very much... I don't participate in some group or association in favour of the ecology or recycle. I think that my participation is more expressive in daily things like ...I don't know,  I try to use always only one clothing bag, but sometimes I forget it. Also, I try to recycle paper, I gift my old photocopy, this may sound stupid but is very big the number of photocopy that one student produce, specially social scientist student.

• how relevant do you find this topic?

I think is very importan, because actually the world is suffering great changes because of human, and this changes is affecting all tipe of life in the world, because all is connecting and the changes in the climate, for example, produce the extinction of differents species. 

Something you'd like to learn

Hello, for today I'm going to talk about my interest and the things that I would like to learn.

I am interested in very different things. For example in relation of my career I would like to learn more abaut  etnomusicology and popular culture in the central zone and south of chile. That is the reason because I study social anthropology. But I would like to learn more about neurological process or phenomenom like synesthesia, ASMR, etc. And this is most relation with physics anthropology and psychology.

I would like to learn more about drawing, in special comic style. When I was younger, very litle, I remember to draw all the time, I was very good for my age (7 or 8 years) but in my teens I left and I never return to draw with the same regularity. I think that I will should to start to draw more.

Other  topic that I would like to learn more, is about dance. I know... I am very awful to dance, but I like a lot, and I think it will very unexpected if I dance good in a some moment. Because I am famous in my family for dance bad... yes, that is so sad :( but I don't care, I will learn to dance good.

A place to eat

Hello!! for today I'm going to talk about mi favourite retaurant or place to eat. I am not a person of restaurants, I like cook and I am very pernickety with my food, therefore, here in Santiago, I don't have a place to eat, but in Arica, I have one. It's a restaurants of chinese food, in reality, I don't like very much the chinese food, but I like this restaurants because I go with my family for as long as I remember and I became accustomed to the flavor of the food (I don't like the food of other chinese restorants). 

It is called shanghai (I know, its a very common name xD) and it is located in the Arica's Center, in the Maipu's street. When I go, always order the same thing: chaufa rice, sauteed vegetables, Chop suey, salad and chips, it sound like to much food, but it doesn't only for me, I like share with my family. 

This restaurant it's very importan for my family, because my parents go before I was born, even before they merried. In fact, their firsts  dates was in this restaurant. We know all people that work in the restaurant. And it's really comfortable.

The ASMR's phemomenon

Hello. for today I'm going to talk abaut my presentation for the next week.

Honestly I don't have clear my topic, but recently I find to a new topic very strange and interesting to talk, I refer to ASMR or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It's sensation described for the people like a tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory,  tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli. This sensations could be related with personal experiences in the early childhood. This phenomenon even today is very new and strange, but phenomenons like social network is help

The reason because I chose this topic, it's because I think I have ASMR. I discover it, when I started to see diferent videos in youtube about things related to ASMR, like whisper or eating sounds. It very strange to say but this videos relax me.

I like to organize my presentation in three parts. The firts part for to describe the phenomenon, the second part for to explain how the people to descovered this phenomenon and why this phenomenon is so new for the scientist community. And the three part for show some examples  about how it sence  this phenomenon.

My ambitions for the life

hello!, for today I'm going to talk about one  ambition that I have for the future. I have more than  one ambition but today I'm going to talk about one particular ambition that I have for a while. I would like to record my music and show my music in a important stage.
I compose songs for I have fifteen years old, but only for two year ago I showed my music to my near friends. It's a little difficult for me say that, because I'm very shy and the most people that I know, don't think  that I can to sing and participate of a stage.

In the beginning, I wrote song like a hobby but with the time it's been make more and more important to my project of the life. I don't know what to wait for the future, but I think this is very important and maybe I will not be a great and famous artist but I know that this part of my life will always be with me.
I know that in the present record an album, It's not so difficult in comparison with other times. It's possible but still be hard. That is the reason for in this moment it's so important to take advantage of the moment and work hard for fulfil my dreams.

My Favourite Picture

Hello! Today I'm going to talk about my favorite photography. This photography is from one of my favorite’s documentaries "La ciudad de los fotografos" (the city of photograph) by Sebastian Moreno in 2006. This documentary talks about the military dictatorship in Chile, from the vision of different photograph that protested using his cameras. It’s a beautiful documentary and the photography that most impact me, was this:

"Mi padre. Mi viejo. (...) Después de salir de estar preso, me exigió que le contara, yo no le quería contar, cuando le conté él tuvo ese gesto. Esta foto es eso."

This photograph was took by Luis Navarro (photograph from AFI), one of interviewed of documentary. In the picture show to his father in the exact moment before he relate his experience as missing detainee. Luis was five days detainee but he manage go out with life.

I like very much this photography because is  a very emotional picture, although capture a very intimate moment, describe perfectly the pain and frustration of the many people that live as a similar politic situation. The image transmit me a million of different emotions and make me reflect about my life, appreciate and protect to my family, and not be indifferent about the social injustice, especially when it’s about human rights.

The "Coricancha temple"

Hello, today I'm going to talk about a place I visited in october of 2011. I'll talk about Cusco City. In 2011 I participated in a flolkloric music group called "Takhi" (in Aymara it means "road"), it was a student group. For this reason the Tarapaca university invited us to participate in a congress about identity and mullticultural education. 

I was very excited because it was my first time traveling alone, without my parents. In the city, I saw a lot of interesting things. For example I visited the "Coricancha temple" (the Temple of Sun), which was unbelievably big. The arquitecture and the context of the Temple were the most surprising aspects to me. It was a half Quechua's temple and half a Catholic church. The temple represented all I knew about the religion syncretism. I visited other places, but Coricancha was the best. 

In my opinion, Cusco city is a beautiful and curious place. In any street you walk you can find a piece of history.

My Biography

Hi. my name is Ana Supanta, I study social Antrophology in Chile's university and this is my english blog for pre-intermediate class. For today I'm going to talk about my biography.

I'm 22 years old, I was born in Arica city, in the north of Chile. I lived all my life in this city but in 2011 I decided to move to Santiago to study Antrophology. It was not an easy decision for me, but it was necesary for my life, I needed to start taking my own decisions. 

When I was younger I began to get more interested in my culture of origin. I have aymara ancestry and this is one of the reasons I study antrophology. In addition, I really like folcklore music and after I graduate, I would like to continue my studies in etnomusicology. Ok. This is all for today.
